Learning to Dance in the Rain :)

Everybody has off days right? Days where they start out pretty good, but then it seems like everything that could go wrong, does. That's the kind of day I had during finals week last week. It really did start out pretty good. I presented a project that I got a 93% on, I got an email saying that I got hired to work on campus, things like that. But then later that evening when I got home and Eric left for work, I realized our internet had been shut off, I called and they wouldn't let me speak to a representative, I had to actually put on clothes again so I could walk to campus just to do homework that I didn't want to do anyway. Rough, huh? Haha, now that I'm typing this it sounds like it was more just a problem with the attitude I was having than anything. In my mind though, it felt like that day couldn't have possibly gotten any worse! I was hanging on campus when the lights in the building I was in shut off, so I assumed that was my cue to go home. I packed my stuff up and was getting ready to leave when I realized it was raining! Normally I get upset when it rains, but for some reason it was the one thing all day that seemed to go right. I put my headphones in, blasted some Taylor Swift "Sparks Fly", and literally started dancing in the rain on my way home. At that moment I realized how silly I had been all day! I need to learn to find joy in every little moment just like I was able to find joy by dancing in the rain! I'm definitely not one to talk when it comes to trying to change your attitude on a bad day, but there are a few things that I have been working on remembering when I have a bad day.

  1. Nobody's Perfect - I think especially when it comes to social media, it is so important to remember that nobody is perfect, and everybody has bad days. Even when it seems like some people are just so perfect, I try to remember that of course everyone is going to choose to post the "perfect" moments of their life and not every moment. So when you're having an off day just remember you're not the only one.
  2. It's a Bad Day, not a Bad Life - "The sun will come out, TOMORROW!" I love the fact that life allows you to have a fresh start so often. Every single morning you have a whole new day to make that day how you want to make it. Even though you may be having a bad day you always have the next day to start fresh and MAKE that day what YOU want it to be. Only you can determine what your destiny will be.
  3. Smile! - Even if you're not in the mood to smile, smile until you feel like smiling! It works I promise. I don't really like to use the quote "Fake it til you make it", but that basically what I'm suggesting haha.
  4. Stay Positive - You can choose to look at the glass half full, or half empty. Even in the worse circumstances you can ALWAYS find something positive if you look hard enough. Be the person that is always pointing out the good in crappy situations! It will give you a better outlook on life, and in the long run you will be happier!
By all means me posting this does NOT mean I have my life together, or that I have completely figured out how to be happy all the time. I really don't think everyone can be happy ALL the time. We have to experience some awful things to be able to recognize all the good we actually have all around us in our lives!

    1. Yeah we just switched companies. The company we were going through weren't authorizing things through us before doing them.
